Coming Soon: SANCTUM 2nd Edition, A6 booklet
SANCTUM (1st Edition) » Devlog
Hi, everyone!
After extensive playtesting and feedback, I'm overhauling last year's storytelling micro-game SANCTUM into a 2nd edition.
Here's what you can expect:
- Reworked rules. Prompts and rotation systems are now simpler and less rigid, enabling a more free-form experience without sacrificing structure. Additionally, the game now supports up to, instead of exactly, three players—including solo journalers.
- New art. I had usage but not commercial rights to A. Shipwright's incredible art, so I've trawled the public domain for replacements that hold their own. Yes, we lose Shipwright's inimitable style, but we bend closer to the OSR's aesthetic and, most importantly, enable the following:
- Printed booklets. Bonfire circles, car rides, and second bottles of wine were already SANCTUM's vibe, but a print run of A6 booklets will better facilitate that kind of spontaneity by hiding in the back pocket of your jeans. Retail prices shouldn't exceed $10, and copies should be available at online shops you know.
Here's the new cover design:
Quick final note: I've been assembling a micro-press/imprint called Empty Mountain (Nothing Can Die) for releasing my tabletop work, and while it's still too soon to say more, I intend to publish SANCTUM's second edition as the press' debut product. Stay tuned!
Thank you so much for your interest,
James Pianka
